In 1906, Italian economist and sociologist,  Vilfredo Pareto observed that eighty percent of the wealth in Italy was held by a mere twenty percent of the families.

In the late 1940’s, Joseph Juran, an economist applied Pareto’s observations to the business world. And the Pareto Principle or The 80/20 Rule was born. Basically, the 80/20 Rule says a small percentage of A produces the majority of B.
